The conflict between India and Pakistan is over Kashmir and Jammu.Kashmir and Jammu are a state in northern India. It is located partially in the Himalayan mountains, and it shares borders with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab all the way to the south. Pakistan claims that Jammu and Kashmir a have mainly Muslim population and that’s why it should be part of Pakistan. But Islamabad has been saying that Kashmir should have become part of Pakistan in 1947, because that time Muslims were the majority in the region. But at that time the ruler of Kashmir was a Hindu ruler at that; his name was Maharaja Hari Singh but mostly Kashmir was mostly made up of Muslim. He was unable to decide which nation to choose so he decided to persist neutral (Hafeez 2016).The Kashmir problem was first taken to the United Nations by India. India has always been always talking about the Kashmir issue at international forums even though Pakistan’s constant efforts. The parties that were involved in this conflict were the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, the Indian National Congress, and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party.2. This conflict is a territorial conflict because the Kashmir conflict is mainly between India and Pakistan, it started just after the partition of India in 1947.The present conflict is in Kashmir Valley (Kumar Hari 2013). A territorial dispute is a disagreement over the possession or control of land between two or more territorial individuals or over the ownership or control of the land, usually between a new state.3. The conflict is occurring in Jammu and Kashmir valley. The location of Kashmir is affecting the conflict because the geography of India and Pakistan includes the Himalaya Mountains and the Indus River defining the features; both areas have high mountains and river lowlands close to the Indus River (Afridi Jamal 2009). India, due to its size and nearness to the ocean also has lowlands in the southern regions and the Thar Desert is in its western half. Both countries share homogeneous geographical features as well as some cultural practices but contain a wide variety of native groups.4. There are many causes of the disagreement the main causes are religion is one of them because Kashmir is mainly a muslim population state and it was ruled by a hindu ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, who wasn’t as skillful as running the kingdom as people would think at that time. Religion is an important aspect of the dispute. The Partition in 1947 gave India’s Muslims a state of their own which is known as Pakistan now (Hafeez 2016). Pakistan’s claims that Kashmir, that there are many areas that are Muslim-dominated.The population of the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir is over 60% of Muslim, which make it the only state in India where Muslims are in the minority of the population. Under the partition plan provided by the Indian Independence Act of 1947, Kashmir was free to accept India or Pakistan. But Maharaja, Hari Singh, wanted to stay independent but at last he decided to accept to India. But at the same time both India and Pakistan didn’t want Kashmir to become an independent state. 5. This disagreement Started in 1947 when India-Pakistan were in war it is known as the First Kashmir war it was between India and Pakistan over the princely states of Kashmir and Jamuna since 1947-1948 (Miglani, Sanjeeev 2016).When India and Pakistan gained independence the rulers were able to choose which state they want to join.It is still going on and there have been many conflicts in between.6. The Kashimr dispute has been carried out by the United States formed alliance with Pakistan to fight and it has recently grown closer to India.Modi has had meetings and has talked abut how defense relationship is growing fast (Kumar Hari 2013). Meanwhile, U.S. relations with Pakistan are not that good at all, as shown by the Pentagon’s decision to withhold $300 million in military. 7. The conflict over the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been a really big tension between India and Pakistan, they have gone through three wars between the nations since 1947 and it has resulted in a lot of costs to the whole region, there has been a lot of loss of life, there is has been a big impact on economic growth, large defense spending in military (Afridi Jamal 2009).8. India and Pakistan have fought three full-scale wars over Kashmir and jammu and countless border clashes, some of them have a affect the people and the regionover there (BBC World News 2016). Last week, three Pakistani soldiers were killed on Kashmir’s border it is called the Line of Control.9.The reson that the dissageement is still going is becasue many people in the territory do not want it to be ruled by India, and they prefer instead either independence or union with Pakistan.Another reson is that as i said before the population of the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir is more than 60% Muslim, which makes indi a state with a majority of mulsims (Miglani, Sanjeeev 2016).Even high unemployment and complaints of tactics by security forces battling street protesters and fighting.10. World powers like the US and Russia have been often play a decisive role. They have on more than one occasion urged the two neighbours to decide the matter between themselves. Russia says that the us concern on the kashmir issue could be a crisis for a nuclear transaction in the region (BBC World News 2016). The US’s main concern is that the tension between India and Pakistan should not grow to the point that a typical war breaks out between them which could later grow to a nuclear war in the future which could be really bad for the people living there.
