Romanticism is trying to create a image

Romanticism
was an era romantic era during the late 18 century, where art, poetry, musical,
and intellect was emphasized.  Romantic literature
invoked the exploration of nature and the limited qualities of  human imagination. In the poem “Kubla
khan” written by Samuel Taylor
Coleridge,  he able to displays
the concept of nature and he reflects on one’s imagination. This is evident
from the first stanza, that the poet is trying to create a image or an environment
for us which is safe and beautiful in Coleridge imagination. However, he then
goes on to states,” ” Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns
measureless to man Down to a sunless sea.” Coleridge is trying
to show a distinction from historical facts compared to his imagination.
Through-out this poem, Coleridge, is trying to paint us an environment  or a image and it the sense of imagination
this poem gives us which the primary representation of romanticism in the poem.
Romanticism can often be described as what is going though
the heat can be more important than what goes through head, as in, nature can
be felt through-out the entire body not only the mind itself. In the Literary
writing ” Goethe’s The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Peter Eckermann and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
characterizes romanticism beliefs magnificently. The first representation of romanticism
in the writing is that the author is connected to what he writing with, in
that, this is coming from the authors experiences which gives it an emotional connection
between the author and the book. This meaning that the feeling that werther had
felt in the book may have been felt by Goethe as it is his own personal experience.
Another aspect where the literary writing show romanticism is when we all about
logic and reason. During the time of the enlightenment, everything had to have
logic or reason behind it. On the other hand, in the novel actions have not
logic or reason but rather come from the heart, which shows werther’s  word choice would be a perfect representation
of romanticism.If emotion is  a
primary characteristic of romanticism than the painting” Goya’s Third of
May” painted by Francisco Goya is a clear representation of romanticism,
in that, it gives us a sense of emotion and drama. as we can see in the
painting Napoleon’s men have conquered Spain and while Goya’s men are hoping
for Napoleon’s men to changes, however, figuring out their where barbaric. The
Spanish people where in misery and despair as Goya displays in his painting.
Goya used several methods of art in this painting, especially color and
contrast. The lighting and dark contrast increase the intensity of the
painting. The focus of this painting is not for it to be please towards the
eyes, but to propel to the emotions. there is also a sense of drama, in that,
if we look at the main prisoner is body is stretched as if he is on a cross.
Furthermore, if we look at the faces of the Spanish people we can see that they
are very clear to the viewer and creates a emotional feel because of the facial
expression. Through the dramatic and emotions effect of this painting, gives
the painting a characteristics of romanticism.
